News from SCAHPERD President Elect
“Hindsight In 20/20” - This phrase can keep one pondering. What I love best about the SCAHPERD theme for 2020 is the focus on reflection. Reflection makes one better by learning through mistakes, finding the desire to achieve more, helping others, gaining perspective, and overall creating change to become better at our own practice.
My name is Holly Kut and I am honored to be the SCAHPERD President-Elect for 2020. Currently, I hold the position of Instructional Specialist for Health and Physical Education for Charleston County School District. In addition, I also take on the responsibility as the District School Wellness Coordinator. While this may be a demanding role, I LOVE what I do! Being able to support and advocate for teachers, administrators and schools everyday is something that proves to make a difference. Students are the ‘heart of our work’ and at the end of each day, reflecting on what is best for our students is by far the most important aspect.
As President-Elect, I want to take that same theme and think of what is best for our educators/members. Providing relevant and meaningful professional development is an utmost priority. We need to listen to our educators, hear what they have to say, and then help them develop and grow, giving them the best tools to create the best practices professionally. We want to keep them coming back to us for more!
A sincere goal of mine is to increase our membership across the state, increase attendance at the annual conference, provide more instant resources for our teachers and continue to advocate for the needs of our profession. I will be attending the SHAPE 2020 conference in Salt Lake City and plan to represent SCAHPERD with dignity and promote all that we are doing. I look forward to working with everyone on our team and continuing to be innovative as we move forward in all of our reflective practices.
Respectively,
Holly Kut
SCAHPERD, President-Elect
