The Student Health and Fitness Act of 2005

According to Article 1, Section 59-10-10 of the Student Health and Fitness Act of 2005, the goal of this act is to provide South Carolina students in kindergarten through fifth grade with 30 minutes of physical activity (PA) per day and 90 minutes of physical education per week, for a total of 150 minutes per week of PA. An example of how to achieve these requirements is listed below.

In addition to providing daily PA, this law also contains guidelines for the student teacher ratios. Elementary school ratios of 500 students per physical educator and class ratios of a maximum of 28 students per physical education teacher.
