SCAPES 2020 TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Nominations are due by April 20, 2020

Each year SCAPES seeks to recognize those physical education teachers who exemplify excellence in our profession and create an exceptional learning environment for their students. Awards for excellence in teaching physical education are presented in the following categories: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Adapted, and College/University Physical Education Teacher Education.

Nominee Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years physical education teaching experience at respective level
  • Demonstrates evidence of being an exemplary physical education teacher
  • Serves as a positive role model
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies and uses innovative learning experiences to meet individual student needs
  • Conducts a balanced and sequential curriculum
  • Assumes responsibilities for his/her professional growth
  • Is a current member of SCAHPERD/SCAPES and SHAPE America

Each winner will receive:

  • A co-branded US Games/SCAHPERD TOY ΒΌ zip pullovers
  • A TOY recognition banner
  • A $200 US Games gift certificate
  • TOY Virtual Training Day (Work day to prepare district and national TOY applications)

The South Carolina Association for Physical Education and Sport strives to implement and advocate the development of physical education, physical activity and physical fitness through high quality, research-based programs facilitated by competent, educated professionals.  SCAPES delivers these programs equally to all citizens of South Carolina by promoting opportunities for professional development and participation in programs, projects and activities for its members. Programs that aid in the mission of SCAPES include:
