The theme for this year’s conference really made me reflect over my experiences through the years.

I started out like all of you, trying to “grow personally” and build the best program that I could.  Did I make mistakes?  Oh yeah!  Did I let them define me?  I tried not to. I like to think that I learned from them and found a way to face and solve challenges in a positive way.

As the years went on, I met, networked and collaborated with many amazing educators. We “grew together” and that made me realize that I enjoy creating and organizing curriculum and resources to share with other educators.  Moving from physical educator to district coordinator was a natural step and I love what I do! I take care of my people. I make sure they have everything they need to build their own successful program.

Stepping up to take on the responsibility as SCAHPERD President-Elect was intimidating, at first…but I decided that my experiences made me ready to “raise the bar” and accept the challenge. It is my turn to share what I’ve learned and help the next person in their journey.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to serve and I look forward to furthering the vision of SCAHPERD and its associations.  It is going to be a fantastic year!!
