News from Strategic Planning Committee

Greetings SCAHPERD Members!

The Strategic Planning Committee has been hard at work updating the SCAHPERD five-year strategic plan!  This is a very important document, as it will direct the course of SCAHPERD for the next several years, as well as, pave the path for dedicated professionals in Health, Physical Education, and Dance. The strategic plan includes improving professional development opportunities, increasing advocacy efforts, and streamlining organizational structure.  Most importantly, the strategic plan places service to SCAHPERD members as its top priority!   

Hello, my name is Brian Roney.  I am the newly appointed chair of the SCAHPERD Strategic Planning Committee, and it is my honor to serve the members of SCAHPERD! I have been in public school education for thirty-one years. In my career, I have been a physical education teacher, health teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, district level curriculum coordinator and district athletic administrator. After all these years and experiences, I believe this to be true; in the history of education, there has never been a more important time for the inclusion of Health, Physical Education, and Dance for the health and wellness of our children!  Our program content is vital to student success! 

There is no time like the present to make a difference in education, and SCAHPERD is leading the way! Join SCAHPERD in making a real impact in the lives of South Carolina children!  Access the benefits of SCAHPERD membership through conferences and workshops, resources and relationships, supports and advocacy, and watch your students flourish as a result! As SCAHPERD continues to work for you, I encourage you to renew your commitment to our state professional organization!  Together, we will achieve great things!
