2016 Robert Hampton Scholarship Award Recipient
This award is given to a full-time undergraduate student who serves as a positive role model, assumes responsibility for professional growth, is strong academically, and show professional commitment through membership and involvement in local, state and/or national organizations.
This year’s recipient is Joshua Lang, a senior physical education major at Limestone College. He excels academically and is heavily involved in both his campus community and the surrounding area. Joshua serves as Resident Assistant, is a member of the varsity baseball team in addition to working a part-time job. He has also spent numerous hours working in Cherokee County schools. In fact, he was awarded a grant from the South Carolina Independent Colleges Association to purchase pedometers for students at the 5th grade level to study their impact on walking and test scores among that age group.
To quote one of his professors at Limestone, “Where others are happy to get it done, Josh wants to get it right. He is not afraid to ask questions and challenge, appropriately, current concepts. …He is one of the leaders that other students will ask for help, and he never denies them assistance….He is an educator I would like to teach any child.”
The Robert Hampton Scholarship Award committee is pleased to recognize Joshua Lang, who, as his professor states, “represents everything that is good about a future physical education professional.”
