2017 Robert Hampton Scholarship Award Recipient
This year’s Robert Hampton Scholarship recipient is Chandler Casner from the University of South Carolina. He is a physical education major who is driven towards making a difference in the lives of others. As one of his professors noted, “Chandler exemplifies what a model educator should be with compassion, commitment, collaboration, and perseverance. He is proving himself an extremely dedicated, focused, loyal and dynamic person. His great people skills, his passion for doing his best and his ability to relate to peers are a few of his many strengths. Chandler's dedication, leadership, personality and determined attitude spread to all aspects of his education.”
He is not only an active member of the PEM Club at USC, he is the elected president and was an integral part of the USC team in bringing home 1st place in the Super Star competition at the state SCAHPERD conference last year. He is also president of SCAHPERD Future Professionals this year and is putting in tremendous effort to help start a Intercollegiate Panel, as well as, the planning of Super Stars for the state conference. His professor states that “He will bring perspective, integrity, sincerity and humility to his work as a Future Educator. He will give every effort needed to set a new bar, and that bar will be very high!”. Robert Hampton would be very proud of this year’s recipient, Chandler Casner.
